HOW PRE PAY WORKS

WHY SOMETIMES PRE-AUTHORISATION APPEARS ON YOUR ACCOUNT

When using our pre-pay pumps, please note that a pre-authorisation validation amount may be applied by Card Merchant Services (not Junction 14 Mayfield) to your Credit/Debit card. This amount is fully refunded once your payment is processed.

Rest assured, the pre-authorisation is not a charge, and no funds are debited from your account. Instead, the amount is temporarily held and then released automatically.

While the release process is automatic, the timeframe can vary depending on your bank and may take up to 10 days. If you have concerns or questions about this, we recommend contacting your bank for further details.

What is Pre-authorisation?

Pre-authorisation is applied by your bank, not Junction 14 Mayfield. Once payment of fuel amount is processed the pre-authorisation is released. Please note this ‘charge‘ does not leave your account. This is why it is referred to as a ’shadow transaction’. The ‘charge’ is automatically released but can take up to 5 days depending on your bank The purpose of the pre-authorisation is to ensure the credit/debit account being used is real & the card is not stolen, skimmed or cancelled. Please contact your bank for further information.

Why We Use Pre-pay?

In response to customer demand and to enhance speed of service, many of our customers prefer the convenience of pre-paying at the pump with a card or pre-paying inside the building. This system allows customers to refuel, park in our spacious car park, and make use of our facilities without the need to move their car afterward.

Alternatively, customers can choose to visit the building first, enjoy the facilities, and then refuel their vehicle without needing to return inside to make payment.

Speed Up Your Fuel Stop

Junction 14 Mayfield can be very busy and during peak times, queues can form at the pumps. To help streamline service and free up pumps more quickly, we encourage customers to use our pre-pay options. This method ensures a faster, more efficient experience for everyone.

The widespread use of credit, debit, and fuel cards has made paying by card second nature for most customers. Additionally, we are delighted to now accept Apple Pay and Google Pay, offering even more convenient payment options.

Investing in Innovation

Our mission is to stay at the forefront of industry innovation and we have invested in this technology across the site to enhance our customer service and to ease congestion, especially at busy times.
